Direct Anterior Approach

The Direct Anterior Approach is a minimally invasive form of total hip replacement where the incision lies on the front of the thigh. The anterior approach is considered a tissue sparing surgery with an incision generally less than 8cm. The acetabular cup and femoral stem implants are inserted through this incision either under X-ray or Computer Navigated, Robotic guidance (MAKOplasty). Patients can generally bear weight the day of surgery to experience a speedy and healthy recovery. Ask your surgeon if you are a candidate for Direct Anterior Hip Replacement.
